The world's most famous spy is back on the screens. And according to reports by viewers present at Casino Royale's world premiere Tuesday night in London, his fans are in for a few surprises. Based on Ian Fleming's first novel �Casino Royale,� the 21st James Bond Movie recounts Bond's first steps into the British secret services, revealing some of 007's secrets on the way.

For his first mission, Bond is sent to the Bahamas to beat Le Chiffre, the head of a terrorist organization, in a game of Texas Hold'Em Poker, whose prize money the villain intends to use to fund terrorist activities. If he loses, his organization is defeated. The high-stakes game takes place at Le Casino Royale, hence the name of the movie. Although the script includes established features such as a beauty, a villain, a chase in Aston Martin, and torture scenes, the director has reportedly introduced a few unexpected elements to give the old spy series a modern touch.

The following example says it all: James Bond is playing poker in the casino's high-roller room. All other customers playing roulette, blackjack and craps at neighboring tables interrupt their game and hold their breath to watch the high-stakes poker round. When asked the sacrosanct �shaken or stirred� question (for those of you who are not familiar with the line, this is about a martini), James Bond replies with an abrupt �Do I look like I give a damn,� subtly breaking with the traditional image of the old 007.

With actor Daniel Craig in the lead role, �Casino Royale� was a bet from the start. The blond actor has had bad press since the moment he was chosen to portray the Kingdom's top secret agent. Tabloids have been relentless in mocking his performance throughout the whole shooting. But the directors and producers stood firm, dismissing criticism that Craig was not the man for the job. They reportedly argued that Craig would give the famous spy a 2006 touch.

The premiere, attended by Queen Elizabeth II herself as well as many other celebrities including Elton John and Paris Hilton, was reportedly a great success. With a $100 million budget � and almost as much in marketing costs � the stakes of �Casino Royale� are higher than high. To make money, the movie must be a big hit. The moment of truth has finally arrived for Craig and �Casino Royale�: the fate of the new Bond lies in the hands of fans from across the world.

�Casino Royale� will surely enthrall casino lovers from all over the world. True, casinos have been a constant feature in James Bond movies, bringing in elements of glamor and more importantly, the thrill of the game � with his good looks, is unlimited budget, and his British poker face, James Bond is the perfect high-roller!
