Drillers home for nine games

The Tulsa Drillers will begin an important 9-game homestand at Drillers Stadium on Tuesday, June 6. The stand will be key to the team's pennant hopes as it represents the final home games for the Drillers during the first-half of the Texas League season. The nine games will consist of a 4-game series against the Arkansas Travelers (Los Angeles Angels) from June 6-9, and a 5-game series versus the Wichita Wranglers (Kansas City Royals) from June 10-14.

The homestand will include three afternoon games. The games on Wednesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 14 will both begin at 12:05PM. In addition, the game on Sunday, June 11 will start at 2:05PM. All other games in the homestand will begin at 7:05PM.

The nine games are filled with special promotions beginning with QuikTrip Free Ticket Night on Tuesday, June 6. Other highlights will include Christmas In June on Thursday, June 8, Fireworks on Friday, June 9 and Matt Holliday Bobbleheads and 50 Cent Hot Dogs on Saturday, June 10. Tulsa is currently in a battle with Springfield for the first-half title in the Texas League's North Division. Following this homestand, the two teams will conclude the first-half schedule with a 4-game series at Hammons Field in Springfield.

The Drillers have enjoyed success at home this year. During their last homestand, they won six of seven games against San Antonio and Corpus Christi. On the season, Tulsa is 19-8 (.703) at Drillers Stadium.

Tulsa has performed well against both Arkansas and Wichita in the first half. Overall, the Drillers are 9-1 versus the Travelers, including a 4-1 mark at Drillers Stadium. They are 7-2 against Wichita with a perfect 4-0 record against the Wranglers at Drillers Stadium.

Tickets for all games in the homestand, and any other game this season, are now available in person at the Drillers Stadium Ticket Office or over the telephone by calling (918) 744-5901. NOTES: OF Seth Smith was a big a reason for the Drillers success during their last homestand. Smith hit safely in the final six games. During the streak, he was 11-26 (.423), including a four-hit game on May 24. . . . . C Chris Iannetta also likes Drillers Stadium. He is hitting .362 at home, .150 points higher than he is on the road. . . . Through May 30, all 6 of SS Troy Tulowitzki's homers had come at Drillers Stadium and 20 of his 25 runs batted in had come at home. . . . P Josh Newman made his 17th straight scoreless appearance on May 29 in San Antonio. . . . The Drillers were 18-13 during the month of May. . . . 1B Joe Koshansky was named the Texas League' Player of the Week for the period of May 22-28. In 7 games, Koshansky hit .357 with 3 home runs and 13 runs batted in to become the first Tulsa hitter this season to receive the honor.

Wednesday, June 7..................vs. Arkansas Travelers (12:05PM) DAYTIME BASEBALL Make Drillers Stadium your lunch destination! It's your chance to get out of the office and enjoy a hot dog, baseball and the sunshine at the ballpark. Fans will also be able to obtain free shoe shines, haircuts and massages while at the game.

Thursday, June 8.....................vs. Arkansas Travelers (7:05PM) - GATES @ 5:30PMCHRISTMAS IN JUNE It's the holiday season at Drillers Stadium! The first 1,000 fans will receive a special Drillers Christmas tree ornament courtesy of the Hampton Inn and Star 103, and Santa Claus will be in attendance to pose for pictures and take gift requests. THIRSTY THURSDAY It is also Thirsty Thursday with 12-ounce servings of Budweiser and Bud Light and 16-ounce servings of Pepsi on sale for only $1.00 each.

Friday, June 9........................vs. Arkansas Travelers (7:05PM) FIREWORKS / UNITED FORD CUSTOMER APPRECIATION NIGHT Fans will be treated to a spectacular fireworks display following the game courtesy of United Ford and 106.9 K-Hits. In addition, it is also United Ford Customer Appreciation Night with a limited number of free general admission tickets available from both United Ford locations in Tulsa.

Saturday, June 10.....................vs. Wichita Wranglers (7:05PM) - GATES @ 5:30PMMATT HOLLIDAY BOBBLEHEADS The first 1,500 fans of all ages will receive a bobblehead doll of former Drillers outfielder Matt Holliday compliments of your Local Dairy Farmers and KOOL 106.1. This unique bobblehead features Holliday in his 2003 Drillers uniform, but also features the USA baseball cap that he wore while representing the United States in the inaugural World Baseball Classic this spring. 50 CENT HOT DOGS The delicious Drillers Stadium hot dogs will be on sale throughout the evening for only 50 cents each. FATHER & CHILD CATCH In recognition of Father's Day, all fathers and their kids will be able to go on the field from 6:00 until 6:30PM to play catch compliments of your Local Dairy Farmers and The National Center For Fathering. Also, Tulsa's Father of the Year will be honored in special pre-game ceremonies.

Sunday, June 11...................... vs. Wichita Wranglers (2:05PM) DRILLERS WRISTBANDS The first 1,000 fans, ages 14 and under, will receive a pair of Drillers wristbands courtesy of the Red Crown Federal Credit Union and Mix 96. YOUTH CLINIC All youth baseball and softball teams and players can obtain free admission for the game and a pre-game clinic and autograph session on the field with the Drillers players. The clinic will begin at 12:15 p.m. and is presented by Walgreen's, Velocity Sports Performance, Tulsa's WB and the Eastern Oklahoma Orthopedic Center (EOOC). FAMILY DAY Fans can get discounted admission for all of their immediate family members courtesy of 94.1 The Sound and the Tulsa World. Coupons that provide a $2.00 discount on each ticket purchased are available in Sunday's Sports section of the Tulsa World. KIDS & FATHERS RUN THE BASES After the game, all kids and their dads can go on the field to run the bases at Drillers Stadium.

Monday, June 12..................... vs. Wichita Wranglers (7:05PM) LADIES NIGHT The first 1,000 ladies will receive coupons redeemable at the stadium for discounts on food & beverage items. In addition, ladies can get free nail care, massages and other luxury services on the stadium concourse.

Tuesday, June 13............... ......vs. Wichita Wranglers (7:05PM) HARDBALL BINGO The first 1,000 fans will receive a Hardball Bingo card as they enter the gates. Fans can fill out the bingo card as Drillers players accomplish certain feats during the game, with many great prizes being awarded to bingo winners.

Wednesday, June 14.................. vs. Wichita Wranglers (12:05PM) DAYTIME BASEBALL It's your last chance to leave the office and work on your suntan, as it is the final Wednesday afternoon game at Drillers Stadium this season. Fans will also be able to obtain free shoe shines, haircuts and massages while at the game.
