"Live at the Bike," the Internet's exclusive, streamed cash poker game to date, celebrates its second year in full swing, bringing critical, yet entertaining poker knowledge to millions of avid poker players world wide. Launched in 2005 to a hungry card-playing audience, "Live at the Bike," has educated newbie poker fans and seasoned players to skills and strategies in a unique way -- play by play, unedited and unrehearsed.
"Live at the Bike" is the brainchild of two visionary parents. Joker Gaming, LLC, a company comprised of gaming and marketing professionals, created the concept, bringing unique live action poker programming to an audience comfortable with tournament poker, yet fledgling to real cash game poker. Partnering with the renowned Bicycle Casino, a 21-year old well established card casino in Los Angeles, California was the perfect launch point for this innovative project. Fondly referred to as "The Bike," this casino continues their longstanding tradition of staying ahead of the pack and at the forefront of the evolution of poker. According to Haig Kelegian, managing partner of the Bike, "This project was once again, an opportunity for the Bike to put itself on the map with a new and insightful industry progression of introducing cash poker to the Internet."
What differentiates "Live at the Bike" from other poker shows seen on television and streamed to the world wide web? "Live at the Bike" captures poker as it's really played at the tables in every casino and card club in the country. Featuring a variety of games and all limits, this show captures the drama, the passion, the "in-between hands" experience that you only get at a real table ... wit savvy pros, solid recreational players, with the "almost there" crowd, and of course the "what were you thinking playing that hand" crowd. Each show provides a unique, voyeuristic opportunity to peak into the mind of players and learn the multiple strategies of poker.
With fourteen cameras picking up the action, not a hand, gesture or nuance is missed. The Professional players slash commentator team, headed up by Bart Hanson and David Tuchman, make the skilled play-by-play calls, and they, week in and week out, make it not only interesting and fun, but provide a unique mentorship experience. Pros drop by to guest commentate, that is of course, when they're not playing hardball at the table, and all of this makes for fascinating programming.
Die-hard poker fans are enraptured and pros are enthralled. According to Eveliene Dullaart, Casino Administrator of the Bicycle Casino, "Unlike televised shows and Internet properties that focus on tournament poker, this is the only show where Poker is the real star. It's not so much about the celebrities or the money. It's about the sport and passion of poker presented in its purest form. It's not a staged and edited production on a set; it's filmed in a real casino, with cold, hard cash on the line with every hand. This show gives viewers the unique chance to literally sit at the table with players of all calibers of experience and learn from the wins, and the fallout from mistakes made."
Kelley O'Hara, Marketing Director for the Bicycle Casino, couldn't be more pleased with this project as a prized marketing opportunity, stating, "This has evolved into a phenomenal marketing tool, and given us exposure worldwide that we would never have had access to as a more regional property whose customer profile is not exclusively tourist based." Bicycle Casino CEO, Hashem Minaiy, seconds this enthusiasm, as the growing numbers of fans check into the show each week and now plan vacations to L.A. to come to the Bike to get "on the board." "Our customer base continues to grow exponentially, as players learn about the Bike from watching this show." Die-hard poker fans are enraptured and pros are enthralled.
The show is streamed live nightly from the Bicycle Casino's main floor, Monday through Friday from 7PM to 10PM P.D.T., and then re-run in 3 hour increments around the clock to allow convenient viewership for global fans. Subscription rates to view all shows run a nominal $14.95 per month. Players committed to bettering their game and learning new strategies have enthusiastically responded with appreciation for their newfound education, resulting in notable success in their own poker games. Once again, education fosters better success and confidence in all endeavors.
Rick Cloward, Poker Operations Director and 21 year veteran of the Bike reports, "We receive feedback daily from viewers thanking us for what they feel is a very profitable education." Feedback reveals that fans are making their subscription fee back almost immediately, armed with a more grounded perspective of the game and new ways to play hands. As one fan puts it, "I made the subscription fee back threefold the first time I sat down to play after watching 'Live' for a few sessions!" With this feedback, "Live at the Bike" will be stepping up their subscription program to include more tips and strategies for those viewers who want to translate their interest in poker into more advanced and lucrative skills. "Live at the Bike" offers something new to poker fans, and now offers so much more.
