Culinary travel is becoming increasingly popular among consumers today as more Americans are looking for cities with unique and dynamic cuisine before planning a visit. Audra Shalles, a local freelance writer and food enthusiast who recently moved to Milwaukee from Dallas, introduced the world to her new weblog, http://www.tasteofthetown.blogs.com on March 18, 2006.

The culinary blog comes on the heels of an already successful blog about Milwaukee that highlights some of the other unexpected, unique aspects of the city. In 2005, Erin Leffleman, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee graduate, launched her blog http://www.playinthecity.blogs.com , which chronicles her life and outdoor adventures in and around the greater Milwaukee area. With the growing popularity and success of Play in the City, Audra is looking forward to introducing the world to the local culinary scene.
Those who visit the city, either through Audra's blog or in person, will have the chance to experience many of Milwaukee's culinary jewels, including the newest -- the Milwaukee Public Market. The downtown market welcomes visitors with an abundance of natural light, open spaces to relax and more than 20 specialty food vendors. From the broad selection of specialty food to the variety of cooking classes offered, visitors will discover Wisconsin's hidden treasures year round. The Public Market is located in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward, which is booming with art galleries, antique shops, restaurants and condominiums.
